The first of three film adaptations of a Forster novel and a huge success on its release from all the press releases of the day. The Forster classic novel about the sexual awakening of a young woman amidst the emotional repression of Victorian England. Is brilliantly captured in this comedy of manners starring Helena Bohham Carter, Dame Maggie Smith as her insufferable aunt and Daniel Day-Lewis as her prissy English suitor. The supporting cast including Judi Dench and Denholm Elliot is brilliant.
