Arrival

"Arrival" is indeed the intelligent," communion" piece others describe here.

That it is the "best film of this type, done for years" may be attributable to the CGI mess several of the others have been.

Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner do able work in their roles, if not quite irreplaceably so. Forrest Whittaker very good, but untaxed.

The design of the film is sufficient, the script creative and Villeneuve is a most capable re-teller of his visions.

I saw this at a packed showing, with a not quite properly set up projection scenario.

Digital's better than film is it? Maybe for domestic use.

Lot of reflection off the screen on the floor and walls. Semi gloss in a first run theatre, people?

Point being, this film lives in the grey scales, and the odd natural tone. It's cool visually to the point of bleak.

The reference high point, in this story line is "Close Encounters".

Human stories, conflict, soul searching, railing against "the man", anticipation, whimsy, interaction and reward. Fulfilling.

Made by a master, lest we forget.

This isn't there, granted it is a different tone of film, but it lacks grip and amplitude."Sphere", anyone?

The trend in scores that grate, droning on undertone and lacking "a tune" continues. Not a defining, note, tone, phrase nor word here.

Liked it, but I didn't see a classic, just a pretty good movie.
