This movie is complete and utter trash. As a film critic, I felt offended to be watching such a poorly written movie. As a cinephile, I felt annoyed at the quality of the cinematography and score in comparison to the atrocious film they were a part of. And as a lifelong fan of DC comics, I felt genuinely betrayed that a man like Zack Snyder with no respect for the source material is allowed to ruin such great characters.

HA... How else would *you* have written this film? You're a lifelong DC fan? Is it conceivable that you may have never quite gotten it, then, all this time reading such... material? THIS was the perfect patching together of the essence of the two belligerents of the title, the meta-human concept prevalent in the DCU, the quintessential stories for each one of the big two (DKR and DOS - you're a fan, you should know what that means!) plus an interesting first look at Wonder Woman in action! Spoiler alert - click to reveal textOn top of that, you get a much better raison d'être for the antagonist, Lex (rather than having him hate Superman because he went bald!) and several hints of what is coming: Flashpoint and Darkseid! Aquaman looks promising. Cyborg too. THIS is as good a starting point as ANYTHING Fox ever did with their X-franchise... or any of the other Marvel stuff! IN ALL OF THESE CASES, the "source material" you claim to adore is... COMIC-BOOKS. Don't forget that fact, now; for if great works of true literary merit cannot translate so well onto cinematographic versions, it is 100 times more difficult for this kind of fare - which is far from being as great as you would pretend it to be. Zach Snyder did a stupendous job with what he had to work with AS SOURCE MATERIAL.
I kind of agree with Bermuda's review. The film had a lot of potential... but it was almost like it was rushed into production without really giving the script another re-write.
