    Blue Crush

I enjoyed this picture, I thought the surfing footage was exciting, spine chilling and the island scenery is terrific to look at. Director John Stockwell vividly communicates to the audience the uncompromising power of the pounding surf and I definitely felt sympathy and awe for the surfers who braved those majestic waves. The plot is lame in the sense that the conflict between the main character -Ann Marie- and her best girlfriend is unrealistic and downright silly. The interaction between Ann Marie and her new football player boyfriend is probably not the best thing for the younger teens and preteens who seem to be drawn to this film - as some of the themes between these two are to my mind very adult in nature. Older audiences might find the football players offering a few good laughs with their antics on the beach.
