BREATH IN 2013 I saw this movie in Utah, The Sundance Film Festival, and here it is what I think: "BREATH IN" is a movie that has a lot going for it, the music and a deep slow pace heart breaking love story. The Music has its rhythm and the attraction between the musicians develops at a steady pace in crescendo going for a loving audacious, daring climax, like a masterpiece of the triumph of love and connectivity of the souls in play. But unfortunately love fails and the conservative view of the "solid" bullet proof family triumphs, there is not a hint of nostalgia in the finale when the last picture is taken. It's like it never existed. I saw that as an artistic cowardice, a step back for true feelings because there was a close connection getting closer like the keys in a piano leading to an immortal melody, classic, eternal echoed by the Bass sensitive notes enveloping all like a tidal wave. It was something of a cliche not having dared to go all the way. And that was truly disappointing. Broken hearts breathe in and out**** Glances that tell all/mysteries vanishing in the shadows or under the sunlight/ nothing to hope for/no unpredictability no surprises /it is a fact /it’s like revisiting the past in this ghostly present/ Piano notes conveying love letters in the wind. Solitary presences, absent novelty/ going full circle before it starts to rotate. The beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. Hearts aflutter in unexpected melodies conveying seductive messages hidden to the eye. Pianos like hearts sensitive to expert touch. Life is a melody where notes are encoded and decoded by the masters. Background music is a constant companion like a piano floating around us and we swim with it and give it our best strokes that will become flesh. Notes are never lost, they are in constant communication soul to soul where body disappears and we become all ears and the hearts start beating at a new pace without rest like an infinite symphony thrown to the universe from astral lands. Dialogue is not needed. Everything is in the eyes and we breathe in with it. Swings swinging in harmony like child's play while the eyes shorten the distances That were ver far, it was all an illusion these imaginary conventional barriers. Images of each other like whispers in the wind in lakes of tranquility where souls communicate with little to say. Hands interlinked like leaves on fire. Trains carrying lovers like fireworks through the tracks of time uniting/separating/running away? While the melodies try in vain to tune to the tracks. Love is there palpable like white hot tattoo while we close our eyes in silence/memories/traumatic coincidences/lies and hidden and unexpressed truth while the protagonists lose themselves in self destruction out of something that was never and may never be real in a human world that distorts reality/separate kindred souls. In the meantime death awaits for a new birth like an abrupt partum. Through a distorted glass everything is confusing but life has its ways to exist that are as difficult to comprehend as art is. The genesis is unknown to us, but the fruits are there for everybody to see and freedom is an aspiration that can cause lack of breath in the fine line of fragile souls accustomed to security and loyalty forcing us back to something we were running away from. At least we tried. Tis a pity nobody seems to understand the heart let alone our own human condition and our desire to choose something different than what we are accustomed to.
