The performance of Mark Rylance is sublime, as one would expect, he's an eminent actor. Hanks too is credible, and his relays his characters empathy with aplomb.
I recall the era, and know something of the back story detail. There is "artistic"license taken with timeline, and other aspects, in true Hollywood fashion.
The cast is well chosen, Alan Alda, Amy Ryan, Doug Forrester, Austin Stowell all do fine work. The whole cast in general.
Spielberg always parachutes the supporting roles in and out, with more delineation than some.
Good film, well made, nice dialogue, thought provoking. I'd happily see it again, it has dimension.
My hope is to see more films like it, so I'm marking it about a point higher than where I feel it really is, and Mark Rylance is worth that bonus point and more.
