    Edge of Tomorrow

Tightly edited version of Groundhog day on steroids. Makes good use of 3D Imax, and successfully borrows freely from the Matrix, Alien, Starship Troopers, Inception, Oblivion, Avatar, and so on and so on and so on. Full of humour, some of it broad and some so subtle you'll miss it if you blink. Emily Blunt plays the strong straight man to Tom Cruise's clown; but the clown has character development while Blunt slowly reveals what gave her the harsh demeanor. Battle truly is the forge of heroism; but not the battle Paxton is thinking of. And Cruise does come to see the irony of fate, as well as his own fate.
