I feel a little badly about down-rating this movie, but I found it to be a disappointing experience. The movie looks great and has some good performances in it, and deals with some very big topics and themes. However the treatment of the whole story is very thin. The alien invasion, the human response to it, the whole society geared to fighting back and the beginning of Ender's story is glossed over so quickly that I have a hard time imagining how viewers unfamiliar with the story can take it all in. Personally, I think a TV mini-series would have done more justice to the story. Best of all, read the book. The movie rendition pays a lot of respect to the original novel (unlike, say, the horrific Starship Troopers) but doesn't really live up to what the author accomplished with it.
