As a hardcore "deadite" the thought of today's witless studios basterdizing a legendary trilogy with another worthless and pathetic remake was more than I could stand. Thankfully, both director Sam Raimi and series star Bruce Campbell had a big hand in producing this remake and as such this film does deliver all the soul swallowing grotesquery and blood spurting mayhem that Evil Dead fans are expecting. It lacks the breathless pacing and sick sense of humor that made Evil Dead 2 a horror classic and isn't scary or disturbing like the original Evil Dead, but as remakes go, this one does its source material justice and likely won't dissapoint fans. To the uninitiated, if you are the slightest bit squeamish avoid this movie.
