GRAVITY: A RE-EVALUATION
I never did get the big bally-hoo over GRAVITY though it's a fairly decent piece of film making, if the genre is what your're craving. No question the film is was overrated especially winning BEST DIRECTION for something so inert most of the time. And Sandra Bullock receiving another Oscar Nomination for basically doing nothing, sputtering a few ho-hum lines here and there and worse, not even knowing the controls she's supposed to understand how to operate under duress! Add to this that she was far too old to be playing the astronaut. Some really dumb moves, over-all. The script was a disaster of stupid lines and phrases. I certainly would never claim to know much about physics, but it just didn't quite jive properly with me. I'd take any other SERIOUS SPACE movie over GRAVITY in a heartbeat! It might be a 3D marvel, but that counts for nothing in my book when too many implausibilities plagued the film. When one cannot empathize with the central characters, it spells trouble. Frankly, I could care less about their plight, deep in whatever space they were supposed to be in! I never liked the movie, but on seeing it again I looked at it very closely with a very critical eye... and YES! I found it VERY FAULTY!
