There have been many bio-pics on country stars and, for that matter, a few films on Hank Williams which were, in part, of a fictitious nature.'I Saw the Light' is a straight forward narrative chronicling the short, troubled life of the famed singer without any deep analysis of the man. The choice of English actor Tom Hiddleston for the role is a good one as physically he is tall and lean as was Williams and has a fairly good singing voice. The film was supposed to be released in 2015 but for some reason shelved till 2016. I presume producers were not totally satisfied with the final product. The main shortcoming of the film is that it does not delve into the psychology of the man, a man who was so self-destructive.
