I did not enjoy this movie. It had excellent CGI, pretty good action, and an impressive cast (which is why I give it a "5"), but I didn't enjoy the Tony Stark character at all. Quite frankly, I couldn't have cared less if he lived or died. I suppose some people find an ego-maniacal super-narcissist who seems incapable of maturing or deepening as a person fun to watch, but for me it was misery. As far as I'm concerned, it takes a lot more than smarts, money and a high-tech robotic suit to make a hero. Really, Stark isn't a hero so much as he is a disturbing reflection of the self-absorbed, appetite-driven values of Hollywood and the American culture generally. I expect the thinking is that if you're funny, reasonably good-looking, and really, really smart, then being vacuous and ingrown is okay. God help us when heroes (imaginary though they be) become so trivial and vain! Ugh.
