I can appreciate that "The princess of Mars" was written 100 years ago, and that Edgar Rice Burroughs was man of the Victorian era, which was reflected in his stories. That being said, John Carter of Mars was a good Saturday Matinee film. I expected John Carter's character would be a composed/restrained Victorian man put into an incredible situation. I think we've gotten far too used to the loud and angry self-righteous hero of the modern era. All in all, much better than Act of Valor.
