A frustrating experience. The director's heart seems to be in the right place. The film looked and sounded very good. The source material is eons beyond the usual schlok we pay our money to see. But Brad Pitt? You're going to hang a (nother?) movie on Mr. Pitt's acting skills? That's very silly. Much like Robert Redford 40 years ago Mr. Pitt is very pretty to look at. Can he act? At all? Hell no. The only way an actor like Mr. Pitt can get through a film is while surrounded by real actors. That's how Hollywood's always done it. There was way way too much asked of Mr. Pitt. Mr. Pitt will be unfairly compared to Robert Mitchum in 'Eddie Coyle' and they're not on the same planet. The movie needed to be tightened up. Scenes went on way too long. Check 'Eddie Coyle' for comparison. Should've been much better. Very few directors/actors/writers/people understand the concept less is more. Ask Mitchum. Ask Steve McQueen. Ask Led Zeppelin. We need mystery.
