Some touching moments. The idea behind the film was a strong starting point despite the partial execution. I think the screenwriter and the director missed a GOLDEN opportunity here. The characters should have been stronger in their dispositions and did not go far enough in following through on their underlying impulses. The conflict behind the story did not seem all that relevant or consequential. We did not quite feel what was at stake. The film did, however, offer a good sense of convent life at the time and for what that period was like in the province of Quebec, although I'm not sure whether the nuns would have unveiled themselves the way they did. I wonder if this actually ever happened historically, or was this just a dramatic attempt to enhance the story? Overall, this could have and should have been a much, much better work given the idea behind it and the talent on hand. Good camera work nonetheless.
