    Mad Max: Fury Road

If George Miller had announced straight up that MM:FR would be non-stop action movie in which the titular Max plays a supporting role, but is really designed to make us think about the role of women in a post apocalyptic environment, and stars an oscar-winning Charlize Theron... it would have been at least honest, but might not have attracted much interest.

If you think the 'road warrior' action with grotesque villains, weirdly modified vehicles and a pounding, overpowering sound track combining heavy-metal rock with engine noise was the best part of earlier Mad Max movies... you will get your complete fill with this movie. There's practically nothing else happening on the screen, and it happens over and over and over. I was so bored by the 90 minute mark when it became obvious that there was going to be nothing but more of the same, I walked out of the theatre. I'll give this a 5 because what was on the screen was good... or would have been if it was balanced with anything else.

Charlize Theron was great... I've always been a fan, and she is a true action star here. Tom Hardy is wasted in the role of Max, although the few moments he did play a dynamic part were good, but any stunt man could have done 95% of his role. I can't recommend this movie on those terms however. It's too loud, too over-the-top in terms of action, and disappointingly thin in terms of story, characterization, and anything else that makes a movie worth seeing.
