This is a standard no-surprise "formula" movie. It is definitely a chick flick. The lead characters are pretty good although the female was not entirely convincing in her portrayal. The secondary characters were very strong although I wondered why Kevin Kline would accept such a minor role. His character was underdeveloped throughout the movie. He is a veteran of comedy (winning an academy for a Fish Called Wanda)but had little so say in this flick. It would have been hilarious for him to have a love scene in this movie, strictly as a comedic moment. The strengths of many formula movies are the scenes where raw feelings are exposed- when we can feel the pain of rejection or the unspoken love of the actors or laugh at their character flaws... This movie had little of that element.
