This is a dark, very gloomy Oliver Twist made by David Lean when he was filming a number of Dickens classics. The young and older cast are so very good in this British production which presents the best opening ever of a Twist movie. We are literally on pins and needles for about the first half hour of film. It progresses beautifully. Remarkable film as well done as Great Expectations.
