This is nowhere near as good as Pitch Black, one of the greatest horror/sf films ever, but it IS a massive improvement from the 2nd "Riddick" movie, which stunk. The first half hour or so is devoted to trying to make a transition from the previous, forgettable flick to this one, so it's a bit of a trial. However, once planted back on familiar Riddick terrain (a nasty planet where he is harried by bounty hunters as well as the local fauna), the visuals, the story and the acting kick in to make this a good "B" movie. And it's waaay better than 99% of the garbage currently infesting our cinemas.
