I admit I went in wanting to hate this remake. After already butchering Paul Vernhoven's 80's SciFi masterpiece Total Recall, Sony figured why not destroy his other 80's Sci Fi masterpiece Robocop? Let's remake one of the most notoriously violent films of all time as a PG-13 cyborg fest with not one drop of blood, nor the wicked nihilism or sense of humor of the original (minus Samuel L Jackson as a FOXNEWS type talking head) Well congrats you've made Robocop for 12 year olds, great job. Despite the fact that this remake actually has something intelligent to say about the use of drones and has several well directed action scenes, its decision to sell out and go for the bucks with the PG-13 rating killed its chances with me before I ever walked into the theater. I just had to see it to prove I was right and I was.
