Leo McCarey's extraordinary film of a butler caught in the midst of a semi wild west was a tremendous vehicle for the talented Charles Laughton who is absolutely electric in this role as a manservant for a slovenly lot... The film is so innovative, so different from most films of the thirties that it has stood the test of time and inspired a remake with Lucille Ball and Bob Hope.
