OH dear- I did so much want to love this movie- and parts of it are indeed quite charming and quirky - puts one in mind of Russell Hoban's Turtle Diary. Kristen Scott Thomas was obviously having alot of fun with her pushy Press Secretary role, and Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt gave adequate performances- but had absolutely no chemistry between them. The Scottish and desert scenery and shots of the fish were wonderful and evocative- but overall the movie was inconsistent-the Kristen Scott Thomas sparkling scenes (plot based) appeared to have quite a different pace than the plodding scenes (relationship-based) between Ewan and Emily except perhaps for the first scene which failed to live up to its potential. Oh dear- it could have been sooo good but just missed the mark for me. And oddly enough, I appeared to be the only audience member who didn't have white hair. What's that all about?

"And oddly enough, I appeared to be the only audience member who didn't have white hair. What's that all about? " Perhaps you're bald? Perhaps the movie's scary? Maybe they were on excursion from a seniors' home? The mind boggles with the possibilities!
No animation... no car chase.. no gun battles... no 3D... no mass killing... no non stop bad language = No Teenagers in audience.
