I'm neither a fan of Walt Disney, that great homogeniser of culture, nor of that insipid, awful flim, "Mary Poppins" (which, I admit, I've never seen more than a few short clips of because it's so awful), BUT this movie was great! It was really not about Disney or the filming of "Mary Poppins" so much as it was about how life kicks the hell out of our dreams -- and how we respond to that. The acting, with the exception of Tom Hanks as Disney, was outstanding, the script was very well written, and the result was a "grabber" of a movie that wouldn't let go of the viewer. I've never seen a better cast in one movie; they were almost all superb in their roles, and Hanks wasn't too bad. It is not a "family movie", but it IS a movie about family. I recommend it.
