This rendering of the true lifestory of the greatest racehorse ever really shines during the racetrack footage. These scenes of the great horse hurtling down the track like a freight train pumps the viewer's adrenaline as we see Secretariat strain and snort while sprays of sweat and dirt are clearly visualized. Although, Dianne Lane as Penny Chenery presents a spunky heroine and John Malkovich, as trainer Lucien is suitably weird , clad in loud garb evacative of "Superfly" (just look it up); the movie bogs down occasionally into cornball stodgieness. But, in spite of this squeaky-clean squareness, the jaw-dropping racing shots make this movie worthwhile. I hope more parents will take their kids to this quality flick.
