There's something truly psychotic about "Snowpiercer". Throughout its run-time I couldn't exactly put my finger on what. The awkward but somehow great performances? The frantic editing and kooky set-pieces? Nah, not just one of those was to blame for this bizarre filmic psychosis... all of them were. It's the sorta film that owes a debt to Terry Gilliam (Right down to having a mentor character named Gilliam) but I wish Gilliam himself were making rather than the crap he churns out. It's also probably the closest thing I've ever seen that's comparable to the "Bioshock" game series in terms of on-the-nose social commentary scifi come hack and slash gorefest. Lotsa fun, though I see it doomed to cult status by the Weinsteins lack of publicity and theater-pulling.
