As I watched Avengers I kept thinking that I was watching a re-run of Transformers iii. Over all this is a good action movie but, like Avatar, I don’t quite understand its wide appeal to audiences. The good guys are too many. The bad guy/god seems to lose his powers about half way through the movie. The alien bad guys can’t seem to shoot straight. At no time did I feel that any of the good guys were in true peril. Hulk and Iron man steal all their scenes. The invasion part was far too similar to Transformers. Examples are: A building-eating caterpillar thingie…A mysterious black hole thingie sucking everything up or spitting everything out. (Whatever) At some point each lead character is almost dead…but miraculously survives. Come on man. This is a simple action movie with good CGI-just like every other action movie. It is predictable, just like every other action movie. No good guy is even wounded, just like every other action movie. The story line is predictable, just like every other action movie. The bad guys can’t shoot straight, just like every other action movie. I was waiting for Jason Stratham to show up in a car… This movie has absolutely NOTHING new. The 3-D is not worth the extra three bucks. To see this on a big screen is probably the only reason to see it in the theater, but otherwise it is a renter- And I know it has already made billions of dollars... but I would not re-visit this movie even if it were free. Cheesy is an understatement.
