    The Crazies

This is Romero's best since the original (Night of the Living Dead) and, like the original and its sequels, it is socio-political commentary. That fact alone probably loses the lower end of the I. Q. scale, as it requires an ability to think analytically. However, if that won't strain you too much, this film is well worth the Price of admission; the acting is superb, the direction and production are excellent, and the film was actually written by a man who understands that zowie special effects alone do not a story make. This "take" on the zombie story is very contemporary; it's a cautionary tale for our times. You will have some food for thought to go with your popcorn. The SUSPENSE, too, is a rare treat; it kept me tense until the final shot. There were moments of sardonic humour which are reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick, and just enough blood and guts to disgust and delight. The principal characters are developed enough to be engaging without being soap-operatic. That, too, is a pleasant change from most cinema fare these days. All in all, it's "horror" at its best!

I read other reviews that you have posted. You have an annoying habit of attacking other people's intelligence if they have a different point of view than you. You talk of cerebral storyline while chastising everyone else, for not being able to get it. Just do your review and leave the rest of us alone. This flick was dull, had no new storyline, a few new "kills" and was sadly mundane with a couple of small exceptions. Come on. This movie bombed on most levels. As for acting? Give me a break... zombies can't act... all the chicks were good screamers, and can't possibly take care of themselves unless they can hide behind their man... The scariest part was when the couple were walking on the right shoulder of the road instead of the left, facing traffic... And for social commentary gee the army has another contamination problem due to human error. Never ever heard that story before. Their solution -- just blow everything up real good! Just make sure the Na'Vi aren't around... And you gave Shutter Island a two? I guess you weren't smart enough to think analytically... you must be on the lower end of the I. Q. scale... Sorry I am starting to sound like you.

Buddie_dog, I haven't attacked any INDIVIDUALS, so you are not in any way sounding like me. This movie wasn't about "human error" but a rather inhuman cynicism on the part of Big Government and its handmaiden, the military. That is what is called "socio-political commentary". Judging by your age and vocabulary, you have a high I. Q. but the understandable inability of children to understand such things. Here's some friendly advice, kid: if you don't like my "annoying" reviews, DON'T READ THEM. They're signed, so it's easy to skip over them. Thanks for taking the time to write.

To reiterate, you state that ANYBODY who can't see your viewpoint has a lower IQ. Don't elevate yourself by belittling others. Your second two sentences are simply inappropriate/unnecessary. In a review. You made similar comments in your other reviews. I respect your comments about the movie itself. I disagree with them but at least I understand where you are coming from. This flick was about the worst zombie movie I have seen. It lacked anything fresh or new. It did not resent itself well whether it was going for shock or suspense. Gpoing in to any action flick or horror movie the storyline is a given and all too predictable... so what is left? If you are just going to kill all the zombies then do it in a fresh way.. be more graphic... bring in the humorous element... This show had none of these elements. Thanks for your response.

Doggie, I can see why you are so upset that the U. S. military wasn't portrayed as noble knights; you have a lot in common with the very types this movie derided: arrogance, authoritarianism, and a general desire to run other peoples' lives for them. I really don't feel that a child's whining about what is "simply inappropriate/unnecessary" will help others to judge FOR THEMSELVES. If you don't like my opinions then suffer, kid. Write your reviews and quit trying to dictate to others. This is the final communication from me. Have the last word if it will make you feel better. Now get off the computer and go do your homework.

Last touch... lol I changed my age for you pal. Does that change your point of view? People who elevate themselves by belittling others are narcissistic. YOU are missing my point entirely. I am asking you to simply write a review, without the implications that anyone who has a different view point is stupid. You gave Shutter a two which is Miles below anyone else yet you state in that review that anyone who thought it was a good movie is an idiot... So last touch puppie... Please take your own advice and just judge the movie and leave the rest of us alone.

Why are being against and belittling Doogie just because he is a kid? Just because he is a kid doesn't mean he is intelligent. Pretty much taking the easy way out of a great point he made about you.

Give the dog a bone. Buddie_dog is correct in his viewpoint, no matter what his or her age is. Last time I checked this site was for reviewing movies and not implying that any disagreement with your point of view reflects innate stupidity.

Kapt_kan you are right on with your commentary and your critics here ARE the low end of the IQ spectrum. Most movie goers judge movies by the number of explosions or tried and true scary tactics. They flock to formulaic buddy cop films or hooker with a heart of gold stories. Whenever someone comes along and uses characters or situations as metaphors, the people such as this doggie or puppy guy or whatever the hell his name is start looking like a beauty contest winner trying to figure out what "2nd runner up" means. He is what makes hollywood crap profitable. I, like you, will not respond to any further responses. Just wanted to support what I thought was an unfair and malicious attack by the true "movie zombie" public.

Dvn6, Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I find it amusing that people who make comments like "zombies can't act" insist on being taken seriously, much less demand the right to censor others. The sad fact is that there are too many in Hollywood who are lazy -- films with intelligent plots and story lines can, and do, make money. It's just so much easier to go for the lowest common denominator. All the same, every once in a while, one sneaks through.

After reading this comment I am left to wonder if you are talking about yourself? You gave this sad plot-less predictable movie a nine?. and still lash out at any other reviewers who may disagree... My original point remains... just do reviews... state your case and move on. Now you are creating a false email address so that you can write to yourself... And I thought you were not writing any more in this thread... lol Have a good day. Kan.

Um... I didn't think I had to state the obvious, but this movie is a REMAKE!! Which means, by it's very nature there won't be much in the way of innovation. There are some effective scenes in this movie which work quite well. I thought the director left many interesting subplot lines wither and die in order to further the original story line. I thought that was unfortunate. For the constraints that were built into it due to it's nature I felt that it was quite effective. The people I saw it with didn't catch the fact that the sherrif dropped his cup of coffe before he could drink it when the man walked onto the baseball field. Had he drank his coffee he would have been infected, as the principal was. Thoughtful insertions such as that. Not Citizen Kane but for what it was, it set itself apart. Hope that clarifies...

I'm pretty sure psterl3384 and Buddie_dog is the same person since they're writting the same things on this forum and keep changing their age, so you are agreeing with yourself? We'll excuse him since he's a kid :D

I agree. I went to see this movie not too long ago. Didn't like it. But, that is my opinion. Like all humans, movie critics have their own opinions and to attack people based on assumptions that someone who doesn't like the movie is less intelligent than another is plain arrogant. Additionally, IQ tests are not reliable when trying to measure intelligence... But that is beside the point. The point is, just write why you liked or disliked the movie, not why others who disagree with you are inferior.
