    The Hundred-Foot Journey

Wow. Once in a while a film comes along that is so remote from the typical mainstream movies and this is the masterful one! It is charming, funny, dramatic, cultural, sensitive, refreshing... a truly soulful movie that fills your heart! It has everything. Messages are embedded in metaphors as we compare the culinary aspects to life. Kudos to Disney as always but also Spielberg and Oprah for producing an extraordinary piece of work. I laughed and cried as the wonderful story unfolds with its superb cast of characters. All your senses will be heightened and not only by the magic in the cooking but by romance, passion, beautiful cinematography, the sounds of stunning settings and the feel good of the movie itself. Two "worlds" working side by side; how nice it would be if all cultures could accomplish this beauty. Hellen Mirren is spectacular and evokes so much emotion. She is sure to grab an Oscar for this one for her utter perfection as an actress. The entire cast is formidable. We can all take a lesson from the portrayal of the human spirit at its finest; like a new recipe with a handful of great spices and a hint of good values. I am seeing it again with my husband tomorrow and I know he will love the mindfulness of it all.
