The "Imitation Game" is a well wrought film. Production design, through script and casting, all to the best UK standards. In this form of project, the "gold standard". Keira Knightly great in her role as an IQ ingenue, with backbone and heart. Benedict Cumberbach is seen in a shapes, forms in roles lately, with good reason. He's top drawer here, needy, flawed, unrepentant and driven. With such a wealth of talent to hand, UK casts are exceptionally well chosen, here again. I found the two deviating agenda, one a device in theme and the other a social mores flag, less than cohesive. Related surely, but a bit preachy. Sniff less gelled than the Hawking portrayal film, but they'll be tied at the hip in perpetuity. True 7.8 but not a full 8.0 for me. Really deserving of a place among the best this year.
