A much shorter version is this original filming with locale changes as well. The son from the 1956 version is a daughter in the 1934 version. Though the circumstances are basically the same other than what I've mentioned, my one and only view of the 1934 Man Who Knew Too Much didn't quite provide the heart stopping of the 56 version. The movie is at least 45 minutes shorter than the 56 version so everything seems too rushed with not enough time to take it all in. I don't think it's a particularly good film on several levels with the thick English accents a bit annoying. The acting is just fair and it doesn't surprise me at all that HITCH wanted to remake this film that had so much potential. Let's not forget this creeky film came just a few years after sound was introduced.
