    The Mark of Zorro

20th Century Fox had a dynamic duo in Tyrone Power, then the reigning king of the lot. And gorgeous Linda Darnell when they starred in the 1940 Zorro, stealing a bit of the thunder from Warner Bros. Who had Errol Flynn as their main swashbuckler. Everyone should know the famous story of Don Diego and his exploits in a frontier more colonial California, not to forget his exploits with his lady love. The story had been filmed in 1920 as a silent, then there was an immensely popular T, V. series with long forgotten Guy Williams and the popular remake many, many years later with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Tyrone Power's rendition of Zorro capitalized on his already immense popularity. He was perfect as the bandit who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor.
