Intense and powerful. Very entertaining. The movie was quite dreary and slow moving at times, as was undoubtedly intended, but the theatre was hushed and people were on the edge of their seats for most of the second half. Colin Firth was excellent, as might be expected, but Jeremy Irvine, as the younger Mr. Lomax, put on an equally engaging performance. Nicole Kidman added little to the film and could easily have been replaced with someone more appropriate and less distracting to the role. Not an easy movie to watch, but very enjoyable nonetheless.
