Don't know why a lot of people said that the violence was over the top. It was befitting of the storyline of the life of Hugh Glass, a great telling of a man back in the time, living in the harsh wilderness. The movie was tense and kept me on the edge of my seat, which is not always easy when the movie is well over 2 hours. Even though the plot was quite basic, it was told extremely well. What prevents me from giving this movie a 10/10 is that Tom Hardy mumbles the majority of his lines.
