A very interesting film. On the plus side, the acting was outstanding. Helen Mirren's portrayal of Maria Altman was, I felt, entirely believable; I kept waiting for her accent to slip but it never did. Ryan Reynolds as Randol Schoenberg, the young lawyer who took on her cause, was also, I felt, entirely believable. Also outstanding was Daniel Bruhl as their faithful local Austrian advocate, Hubertus Czernin, who had his own demons to exorcise. But, I regret to say, the plot was entirely predictable, although the flashbacks presented an outstanding portrayal of the panic, fear and brutality that accompanied the "Anschluss", the German annexation of Austria leading up to World War II. And the cinematography in Vienna was outstanding.
