    To Each His Own

A very great drama and one that could be considered a 1940's women's picture has Olivia de Havilland as a young, small town girl whom we see age through the years in London, one who never forgets a relationship that will haunt her for years to come. Director Mitchell Leisen was able to get a dynamic, profound performance from Olivia and predicted an Oscar win for her in 1946. Olivia did indeed win the Oscar for that year even with the magnificent nominated performance of Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter. This 'all about a mother movie' who loses a son born out of wedlock has some wonderful twists and turns as with any melodrama with an unforgettable, beautiful surprise to savour.
