Wow! Hats off to Spielberg for this touching, unique tale of courage, hope, fear and determination; all metaphors, I believe for the Germans' and Brits' war experiences and the horrors and adventures as "seen" by the war horse, Joey. It doesn't matter if you are "horse crazy" or not. This heartfelt story is sure to touch all ages on a deeper level. The cinematography is beautiful and much knowledge can be gained re the use of horses during the war. There is indeed an emotional connection between Joey (war horse) and all those that he encounters from his early years as a foal to the many life adventures after. As far as war stories go, the movie depicted some realistic war scenes but its main point, I believe, was Joey's experiences as seen by those knowingly, intense eyes and all those who connected with him, and he with them. This film makes Oscar material for its extraordinary uniqueness, greatness of spirit and the evolvement of life's journeys and how we and Joey travel through them. What a refreshing movie that needed no sex, swearing or "same old, same old." Wonderful stories like these don't come along too often. If you like this, I strongly encourage you to see," We bought a zoo."
