Tom Cruise as an actor in this movie plays basically one note. Been there done that... give me some range. Spielberg... the same... give us something more than just scene after scene of another special effect. And if these aliens were able to reach us before we reached them, shouldn't that make them more intelligent? Then why would they be hell bent on destroying us? Aren't we doing that to ourselves already. Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1975 blows Tom off the map as an actor and Spielberg seemed to hit it more on the mark when he made the aliens friendlier and musical. All this destruction in the movies is really starting to make me sick. If you need a popcorn fix, then go. Otherwise wait and rent it so you can throw stuff at your tv.
