A Passage To India is one of director David Lean's best films. Right up there with Lawrence of Arabia and Ryan's Daughter. A film about the difference between classes and mistaken overblown accusations. Taking place in Colonial India the story revolves around two ladies, one young and one elderly who are touring around India and about a certain Indian doctor who is falsely accused of wrongdoing because of an overactive imagination. This film is very intelligent and if you are looking for action seek it somewhere else. With standout performances and the beautiful country of India as a backdrop, A Passage To India is a rare jewel in an illustrious filmmaker's crown.
