Cabin in the Sky

This famous, mainly black film by Vincente Minelly gets some marks for trying to bring something different to the screen. A plus is that there are some wonderful black performers in this fantasy musical which hardly anyone ever got to see on screen. That element of the film is more than decent, but the plot itself of a man shot to death and then given a second chance to come on earth wasn't even knew when the feature was made. It's a theme that would recur many more times, in fact, in CAROUSEL in the very next year or so. The 5 is for the entertainment as the film is too lame.
