I will readily admit that G. W. Pabst was a very innovative filmmaker and in his film 'Diary of a Lost Girl' starring the monumental icon 'LOUISE BROOKS' we certainly have a film brimming over with 'the underbelly of life' one might be apt to say, especially for audiences of 1929. The gorgeous Miss Brooks plays a passionate woman with a monumental concupiscence for love and life as was her trademark. It was too daring a film for its time. In 2016 it seems a feature whose themes have been seen and told over and over again. Too boot, I'm not a great fan of such early fare. However, my score takes nothing away from an actress of the silent era who really was something special... MISS LOUISE BROOKS!
