"Funny People" the title as well as the actors deceive the viewer into thinking that this would be a laugh riot, which it is not. Although there are some funny moments in the movie for the most part its themes are quite dark. Standup comedy is quite brutal to say the least. Telling jokes in front of a largely drunk audience can be a very unforgiving experience. You want the audience laughing with you, not at you."Funny People" is a quite accurate depiction of what it's like to be a standup comedian, a largely hit and miss affair at best. This movie shows a growth in both Sandler and Rogen's acting abilities especially Rogen who is getting much better as an actor. Rogen has to lose the foul language he is famous for in order to be taken seriously as an actor. This movie isn't for everyone especially young kids because of the darker themes. It's actually quite good and worth seeing, that is if you can understand where this movie is coming from. This is definitely not a comedy.
