A noble effort by the incredibly talented Vincent Cassel and Léa Seydoux to bring this very well known story to new life in the 21st century. Don't expect the famed animated film with whimsical tunes. This 2014 French film covers mood and ambiance so well as the two, Belle and La Bete, play in their fantastical tale of the beginning of a new world. The story by Jean Cocteau is too well known to really offer anything unexpected. Thus, my score.
