LOVELY, STILL (2009) is the first film of then 23 year old writer/director Nik Fackler. The movie did very well on the Independent Spirit Awards and for good reason. This immensely beautiful film about the latter years in life comes to life with unbelievable performances from Oscar Winners Ellen Burstyn and Martin Landau. It's all a wonderful journey of a woman and a man past that certain age, one that is so heartfelt that you cannot but be totally moved. The delightful twist of the plot line, if I can use the word, just adds to the joy of the entire experience. The uncanny thing about this film is how such a young writer/director (23 at the time) was able to capture so perfectly the challenges of older age and turn it into a life experience that will reshape one's entire thinking of the old and getting old. I absolutely loved this film and recommend it so very highly.
