Click here to show this review. If watching scenes of mass destruction and death is your cup of tear then San Andreas delivers on all fronts. Los Angeles, San Francisco, and The Hoover damn are all leveled to the ground, as earthquakes, and tidal waves destroy iconic landmarks, and countless lives. The film is visually impressive and fun to watch, at times. I'm certain a lot of money went into the special effects department. If only they had spent some money on a good screenplay. There are gaping holes in the plot that defy logic. The Rock is a likeable actor, who spends most of the time in this movie in a helicopter searching first for his soon to be ex-wife and then for his daughter, who, for some reason, lives in Los Angles but some how ends up in San Francisco with her mother's boyfriend. Paul Giamatti plays a scientist who creates a machine that can predict earthquakes, thirty seconds before they happen. His character is credited with saving thousands of lives, forget the fact that millions perish. If you're willing to suspend you disbelief, then you might actually enjoy this film. It certainly looks good on the big screen.
