Click here to show this review. Well well well... finally I got to watch it. Al that hype... was... ( drum roll...) kinda worth it -_- Ok, I'll make it simple. CGI at start ( with those little aliens species ) that was crap CGI " a la" The hobbit trilogy or Emperor Snoke."Pitiful". I almost left felt like I was robbed right the start just watching that ridiculous CGI. But hey... what can we do right. People think some CGI are just "fine" to use to entertain us not realizing that Star Trek is an important movie for some of us. BUT NOPE. Crap crap crap. - 5 points right here. Now, Although I thought everything would be crap... I stood and gave it a chance... yes. Arriving to the middle of the movie ( spoilers ) I LOVED the part when they got attacked... oh yeaaa! NOW THAT WAS worth watching. The Bad Aliens entering the USS Enterprise was simply "EPIC". Omg... I was astonished. Just the way they walk... the way they move... the way they "are" + 1 points. Good. Now, the MAIN Lead Bad guy ( the dude with the pizza Octopus face ) yea... that dude... EXCELLENT. Yes, I said, very nice. He was really good in his role. Very convincing. The kinda bad guy that deserve to have his place in this movie. + 1 point. The script... hmmm... I would say not bad. As good as the other movies... fun, dramatic... mysterious, not too cheesy... but cheesy enough to keep our attention to the movie itself. + 0.5 point. The storyline... hmmm... interesting... BUT... I didn't like the ending... guys... the ending resembled "exactly" to the ending of Start Trek 2... the last one... like... no creativity... seriously. I was disappointed. I prefer the ending with Khan. Way better... wayyy better. - 1 point. Now, the action... NOT BAD. Yes, the fighting and camera view play was pretty up to my standard. A lot of action and nice fighting... BUT... guys... these are aliens... like... seriously... they are fighting like freaking "Bruce Lee" vs "MMA" a la Ronda Rousey mixed with Jean Claude Van Damn and a little bit of Football game play... like seriously... you're supposed to be an alien from far away... where da hell did they had access to "Ong Back" or "Enter the Dragon"? Like seriously... yes... the action was good... but... felt like they were in a "pit fight" MMA ring from the Bronx... when they're supposed to be aliens from far away who technically... should fight... a different way... not freaking Van Damn style. -0.5 points. Let's keep going. The romance... hmmm... I felt like... it wasn't dramatic enough... everything was axed to "action" scenes more then dramatic scenes... a lot of jokes... funny scenes... maybe too much I would say... - 0.5 point. The last huge battle at the end... pfff... sigh... I don't know friends... I wasn't too hyped about it although the "idea" of entering the enemy ship remind me too much of "Indepence Day 2" that just came out recently... like... I felt like... Will Smith was about to show up at a certain point... - 0.5 point. The ending at the end... sigh... I don't know... I wasn't too happy as well... nothing new. Same thing as the ending as Star Trek 2... same lines... rebuilding the USS Enterprise with that same line of " We are voyagers... looking for new world... bla bla bla" and that's it. The end. Yup. That's it. So technically, I think this movie was more axed toward "action" scene more towards the "essence" of star trek itself. No wonder why, it was Justin Lin In charge -_- If it would of been J J Abraham, would of been way better. Something "big" was missing in this movie... I don't know... when we left the movie... everyone was like..."that's it"? No one even applause or anything. Such a waste... this could of been so much better. Overall... I give it a 5 on 10. Sorry guys... maybe all of you will like it... but it was nothing like the other two other Star Trek by J J Abraham. Nothing at all. But still worth to watch it... on a tuesday night I would say. Peace. ( ps: The new alien actress Sofia Boutella, was worth watching though.)
