This is a remake of the original of the 1979 with Peter Falk as the spy and Alan Arkin as the neurotic dentist (Not pediatrist as is the newer version) Both versions are have sincere attempts of credibility in the performances by the victimized families but there are some fudged-over dialoge in the script in the newer one to try to make the story have some semblance of cohesion. Because of Michael Douglas' poor acting abilities, they had to throw in a supporting character as his CIA aid, terrifically played by Robin Tunney (a Demi Moore look-a-like), dressed in tight T-shirst and lots of lip gloss to distract the scrutinizing viewer of his inadequacies. Still an enjoyable movie but don't expect to have any Jason Bourne insights into weapons or strategies as it is merely a haphazard and contrived to give any real depth to the abilities of a "talented" undercover operative. In this version, it is truly disgusting to watch the emotionally inept FBI bumble and fumble their way to try to apprehend the characters as they peddle nuclear submarines and arms without ever seeming to really have a handle on how to bring closure to the arrest. Even when they are captured at the entrance to the wedding ceremony, a few pictures handed to the officer in charge of him dressed in drag, is enough to let them go into the wedding ceremony. Good for a teenage audience even though it aims much higher.
