Having just seen this film a few days ago, the poor ratings by students made to watch this film for a term paper absolutely blew me away. I wondered if anyone of them had a brain in his or her head. 'The Mission' made by then new director Roland Joffé purports to tell a piece of history in Brazil, all with dire consequences. Even if some historical license was taken, the energy and beauty of this transcendental meditation is beyond what mere words can say. Robert De Niro was in his glory days and Jeremy Irons was perfection as the priest. As the crisis deepens and we approach the climax of 'The Mission', you will be stunned by a dénouement of unimaginable proportions.
