Brad Pitt did an excellent job portraying an oppressive and strict father trying to teach his son to make his own way in the world. The story around the family dynamics was interesting but Malick’s use of visuals: starbursts, dinosaurs, jellyfish, etc. interrupted the overall flow. I get what he was trying to do, but his message of life, death and forgiveness was overdone. The film had its good points, but is not a movie that is truly memorable.
