Intense made-for-TV miniseries chronicles the after effects of a massive earthquake that devastates the country and causes the West Coast to separate from the rest of the continent. Fearing that the worst is yet to come, quirky geologist Kim Delaney and courageous president Beau Bridges attempt to figure out a way to prevent further destruction and stop the aftershocks and tsunamis that continue to wreak havoc.

After a freak tornado destroys Las Vegas, scientists determine that unusually destructive weather could be building over the United States. When a 'category five' hurricane forms over the Great Lakes and a band of 'force five' tornadoes move up the Midwest toward Chicago, the resulting collision of deadly weather fronts not only decimated great cities, it ultimately causes the entire North American power grid to implode, effectively leaving Canada and the United States without power for at least six months.
