Based on a short story by Clive Barker, a widower named Dr. Ralston seeks out a woman who is said to have the power to raise the dead, in hopes that she may bring his deceased wife back to life. She agrees, but only if he listens to her tale of Ernest Haekel.

Haekel is a young, brash medical student whose failed experiments do nothing to dissuade his belief in the power to grant life after death. Upon recieving word that his ailing father's condition has deteriorated, Haekel sets out across the New England country side to see him. This journey proves fatal when he seeks shelter from a storm and a chance meeting with an old man and his young and beautiful wife becomes a literal orgy of blood and undeath.
